Alzheimer's Association Campaign for Quality Residential Care

More than 50 percent of individuals living in nursing homes and assisted living residences have some form of dementia. With the increasing need for long-term care, our Campaign for Quality Residential Care is establishing standards of dementia care to improve quality of life for people with dementia living in long-term care settings.

Our campaign has three components to:

  • Educate the public to recognize and choose quality dementia care

  • Train health care professionals to provide quality dementia care in long-term care settings

  • Advocate with long-term care providers and policy makers to use our recommendations to improve dementia care

All components of the campaign are based on our Dementia Care Practice Recommendations, which incorporate the latest research and field evidence. The recommendations are backed by more than 30 leading health and senior care organizations.
