Update on the National Alzheimer's Project Act

The National Alzheimer’s Project Act (S.3036/H.R.4689) continues to have great momentum in Congress, but we still need your support in telling our nation’s leaders about this crucial legislation. Please take one moment and ask U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, to support the enactment of the National Alzheimer’s Project Act to launch a campaign within the federal government to overcome Alzheimer’s disease.  Send a  message to Secretary Sebelius and ask for her support on the National Alzheimer’s Project Act now.

The National Alzheimer’s Project Act calls for the creation of an Alzheimer’s project office within the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, responsible for creating a national plan to overcome Alzheimer’s and an inter-agency Advisory Council on Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment. The Alzheimer’s Study Group (ASG), recommended the creation of an outcomes-oriented, project focused coordinating office by 2010.  The National Alzheimer’s Project Act will create this office and must be enacted this year.
